What is Hypnotherapy and how does it work?
Have you ever tried to change a habit, a thought pattern or increase your motivation, only to find that your subconscious mind is resisting?
Charles Tebbetts a grand master of Hypnosis wrote the following in his book Self Hypnosis and Other Mind-Expanding Techniques:
"Since the subconscious mind is our driving force, we always do what our subconscious believes. Since it will believe anything it is told, we can reprogram it if we bypass the conscious mind and substitute new constructive ideas for its existing negative ones"
Our subconscious programming is like a collection of tapes that are on a loop constantly running. Some are useful as they allow us to drive, tie our shoes, cross a road, brush our teeth, say thank you when appropriate etc. However, we also have ones that may hold us back and create negative feelings such as 'I'm not good enough', 'I need a chocolate snack after my dinner', I can't quit smoking, I am addicted'.
Hypnosis is a way of bypassing the conscious mind and opening a direct line of communication to the unconscious mind and enables the mind to be directed to specific beneficial goals you wish to achieve.
Suggestions, post-hypnotic suggestions and communication with the unconscious mind made during hypnosis are the reason behind hypnotherapy’s success due to the conscious mind taking a back seat and new information being allowed in.
