Trauma Coaching

Trauma Coaching: Services

Trauma is when we experience very stressful, frightening or distressing events that feel difficult to cope with or out of our control and therefore trigger our bodies fight or flight response. Trauma is personal and so there's no rule about what experiences can be traumatic. It's more about how you react to them.

So, what feels traumatic to one person may not feel traumatic to another. Examples of trauma are:

  • Natural disasters

  • Physical, sexual, emotional abuse

  • Road, rail or air accident/crash

  • Domestic violence

  • Death of a loved one

  • Bullying

  • Traumatic birth

  • Illness

  • Near death experience

  • War zone experiences

  • Pandemics

Trauma can happen at any age. And it can affect us at any time, including a long time after the event has happened.

You may have experienced a one-off incident or it may have been an ongoing event over a long period of time or multiple events over a period of time.

The impact of trauma may include:

  • Panic attacks

  • Flashbacks

  • Sleep problems

  • An inability to regulate your nervous system

  • Highly aroused and jumpy

  • Withdrawal from social events

  • Numb and detached from your body and the world

  • Anger and a need to lash out
